Pre-Entry Assessment (1 day)
An RYA pre-requisite for the RYA Dinghy Instructor course is that ALL candidates must have passed this assessment, conducted by an RYA Coach Assessor, prior to taking the RYA Dinghy Instructor course.
You must be aged 16 years + to take the RYA Pre Entry Assessment and be able to demonstrate the skills at the standard required by the RYA. If you think you would benefit from a training day prior to taking the RYA Pre Entry Assessment we offer a training day on some Saturdays through the season. For those of you who would like more preparation prior to the assessment please consider our Instructor Preparation week with 4 days of training and the RYA Pre Entry Assessment on the 5th day.
Sailing skills such as man overboard, sailing tight circles, sailing a triangular and follow my leader course will be assessed to RYA Advanced sailing standard. We also offer this course as a 2 days option with a practice day on the first day to familiarise yourself with local conditions and to practice your skills prior to the assessment on the second day.
We provide all sailors with buoyancy aids and we do have some waterproof jackets and trousers for you to use if the weather is inclement.
